Multi-Vehicle Crash Snarls Puerto Morelos-Cancún Highway Traffic

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A severe multi-vehicle accident occurred this morning on the Puerto Morelos-Cancún highway near the Vidanta Hotel, resulting in a cargo truck overturning on the central median and causing significant traffic congestion. No injuries were reported.

Details of the Collision

The incident involved a cargo truck, a long-distance van with the economic number F971 from the "Andrés Quintana Roo" taxi union, and a bus operated by Cancún Discovery, part of the Del Valle group.

According to preliminary reports, the Del Valle group bus slowed down as it approached the turnaround at kilometer 309 of the federal highway. The cargo truck, unable to brake in time, swerved to avoid the bus but collided with the van before overturning and striking the rear medallion of the bus.

Despite the severity of the crash, only material damages were reported, with no injuries sustained by any of the involved parties.

Emergency Response

Emergency personnel and municipal transit authorities arrived at the scene to manage traffic, which quickly backed up in the northbound lane. Officers from the National Guard were also present to assist.

The accident caused significant delays, with authorities working to clear the wreckage and restore normal traffic flow.
