Deadly Crash on López Portillo Ave in Cancún

Cancún, MX — A man died yesterday afternoon after crashing his car into a pole on José López Portillo Avenue, near the Abimerhi gas station.

Fatal Crash Under Investigation

Official reports indicate the accident occurred around 2 p.m. when the driver of a gray Chevrolet Spark lost control of the vehicle, allegedly due to speeding and failure to account for road conditions. Witnesses stated they saw the car mount the central median before striking the metal pole.

The impact was severe enough to kill the driver at the scene. Emergency responders arrived shortly after but confirmed the man showed no vital signs.

Authorities Secure the Scene

Municipal Traffic Department personnel cordoned off the area to conduct roadwork while emergency services removed the vehicle and the deceased. Investigators from the State Attorney General’s Office later arrived to transport the body to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo).

The identity of the driver remains unknown as of this reporting.
