Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A young motorcyclist lost his life on Sunday morning after suffering a serious accident on Federal Highway 307, on the Playa del Carmen-Tulum stretch. Authorities were working at the site to recover the body.

The mobilization of authorities occurred around 8 a.m., following a report to the 911 emergency number alerting about a person lying on the asphalt after a motorcycle accident at kilometer 278, near Punta Venado, on the stretch heading toward Paamul.

According to initial reports, the young man was riding his motorcycle toward Tulum when, for reasons still unknown, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the central median, causing him to cross into the opposite lane.

Witnesses indicated that the motorcyclist ended up lying on the asphalt on the side corresponding to Playa del Carmen. It is currently unknown whether the driver fell asleep, suffered a mechanical failure, or if another factor influenced the fatal incident.

Upon arriving at the site, paramedics confirmed that the young man no longer had vital signs, so security personnel cordoned off the area while personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office carried out the corresponding procedures and recovered the body.

It should be noted that just yesterday, Saturday, another fatal accident was recorded on this same Federal Highway 307, but on the Punta Maroma stretch. In that case, the co-pilot of a taxi from the Sindicato Lázaro Cárdenas del Río died, while the driver and another passenger were injured.
