Cancun, Mexico — A woman lost her life tonight after being struck along with the motorcycle driver she was riding with in the Hotel Zone of this city.
According to the official report, the incident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. when the pair of young motorcyclists were traveling at kilometer 8.5, heading towards the center of Cancun.
Official information indicates that the car driver exited a turnaround without caution, causing the motorcyclists to collide with the vehicle. The responsible driver then fled the scene.
As a result of the strong impact, the motorcyclists were thrown from the bike; the woman died almost instantly, while the man sustained severe injuries and was rushed by ambulance to the General Hospital.
This section of Kukulcan Boulevard remained closed for nearly an hour, causing severe traffic chaos.
Elements of the Tourist Police, ministerial agents, and experts from the State Attorney General’s Office cordoned off the scene until around 10 p.m., when they concluded the forensic investigation and removed the woman’s body to the Forensic Medical Service.
