Taste Atlas has compiled a list of the 34 best places worldwide to enjoy tamales. Surprisingly, Mexico doesn't hold the top spot. The honor goes to La Puerta Falsa, a restaurant nestled in Bogotá, Colombia. Their specialty is the Tolimense tamale, which includes:
- Corn dough
- Peas
- Carrots
- Potatoes
- Chicken
- Pork
- Rice
- Spices
Each ingredient is meticulously wrapped in banana leaves and then slow-cooked for up to four hours. Locals often enjoy these tamales for breakfast, paired with a cup of hot chocolate.
