The Mexican mixed team, consisting of Alejandra Zumaya and Edson Ramírez, secured a 7th place finish in the Shooting Sports qualifier at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The event officially kicked off on Saturday, July 27, with Shooting Sports being one of the inaugural disciplines.
The Mexican team put on a strong performance, but unfortunately, their scores fell short of qualifying for a medal. In the first round, the team achieved a score of 208.5 points. They improved in the second round, reaching 209.9 points, and further increased their score in the third round to 210.2 points.
The combined score from the three rounds amounted to 628.6 points for Zumaya and Ramírez. This result placed them in seventh place overall. They narrowly missed out on fourth place, falling short by just 1.1 points to Germany who scored 629.7 points.
In Olympic Shooting Sports, the top two teams, in this case China and South Korea, proceed to the final round to compete for the gold medal. The third and fourth place teams, Kazakhstan and Germany, compete for the bronze medal. This meant that Mexico, unfortunately, did not have the opportunity to compete for a medal in this mixed discipline.
