Acapulco, Guerrero — In a coordinated maritime operation, the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) has seized approximately two tons of suspected cocaine off the coast of Acapulco, Guerrero. The operation was conducted by the Mexican Navy acting as the Coast Guard, in coordination with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).

Details of the Maritime Operation

The seizure occurred more than 200 nautical miles south-southwest of the Guerrero region. Naval personnel deployed aircraft, an ocean patrol vessel, and a smaller boat to locate and secure 80 packages containing the illicit substance. The preliminary gross weight of the seizure is close to two tons, pending official confirmation through corresponding ministerial procedures.

Authorities reported that the seized packages will be made available to the corresponding Public Prosecutor, who will compile the case file upon the ship's arrival in port. In a statement, the Mexican Navy reiterated its commitment to inhibiting the actions of criminal groups, noting that such operations represent a major blow to their financial structures.
