Quintana Roo, Mexico — Isaac del Toro, the 21-year-old rising star of the UAE Team Emirates, has secured a historic victory at the Tour of Austria, claiming the overall title with a commanding 29-second lead over Ireland’s Archie Ryan. The young Mexican rider delivered a near-flawless performance, winning three consecutive stages (stages 2, 3, and 4) and securing both the green (points) and white (best young rider) jerseys to complete a rare triple crown in the competition.
A Display of Dominance
Del Toro’s triumph was highlighted by a decisive attack during the queen stage in Kühtai, where he showcased his climbing prowess. Despite a conservative finish in the final stage—crossing the line in 19th place to protect his lead—his total time of 17 hours, 51 minutes, and 18 seconds cemented his place atop the podium.
The victory marks another milestone in Del Toro’s meteoric rise, following his breakout performance at the 2025 Giro d’Italia, where he wore the maglia rosa and finished as runner-up. Reflecting on his achievement, Del Toro credited his team: “I’m very happy… for all the support the team has given me to win this Tour.”
A First for Mexico
Del Toro’s win makes him the first Mexican cyclist to conquer the Tour of Austria, further solidifying his status as one of the sport’s most promising talents. His success adds to a growing legacy for Mexican cycling on the international stage.
