Tulum, Quintana Roo — A Farmacias Yza branch located on the main avenue in downtown Tulum was suspended by the Health Authorization Commission, which placed official seals on the establishment’s entrance as part of an administrative procedure.
However, what most surprised neighbors and tourists was the direct presence of Mexican Army elements, who actively participated in the intervention, as observed in a video recorded during the operation.
The notice placed on the business facade indicates that the suspension responds to alleged irregularities in the handling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and chemicals, in compliance with federal regulations regarding health risks.
Although uniformed personnel from the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) were present, it was the military who took control of the perimeter and executed the placement of seals.
The military participation did not go unnoticed by neighbors, who commented that this type of health operation typically develops without visible military presence.
Their intervention opens the possibility that the procedure is linked to a broader investigation into possible federal crimes, although this hypothesis has not been confirmed by any authority.
The operation was carried out without incidents and the pharmacy was closed immediately after the suspension. So far, no official statement has been issued detailing the specific causes of the procedure or the reason why Army support was necessary.
It has also not been reported whether the branch will face additional sanctions or if the establishment will be able to resume operations once it rectifies the alleged irregularities.
Meanwhile, the community remains waiting for more information to clarify the motive and scope of the operation, whose unusual nature has generated widespread expectation among residents and visitors of the municipality.
