Mérida’s Grand Parade Marks 115 Years of Mexican Revolution

Mérida, Yucatán — A large contingent of 5,024 participants, including human pyramids, colorful thematic displays, and acrobatics, filled the streets of Mérida’s Historic Center during the Civic-Sports Parade for the 115th anniversary of the Mexican Revolution, led by Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena.

From the central balcony of Palacio de Gobierno, the state governor enjoyed, alongside Yucatecan families, the display of gallantry, martial discipline, and precision by security institution personnel and school groups.

The parade, which lasted two hours and 10 minutes, began with the motorcycle unit of the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), a block composed of elements from different zones of the state.

The route started at Paseo de Montejo and ended in the San Juan neighborhood, passing through the main streets of the Yucatecan capital’s heart.

The state governor witnessed the passage of contingents from secondary schools and upper secondary and higher education levels, demonstrating civility with their escorts, war bands, rhythmic drills, and characterizations of adelitas and revolutionaries.

The intervention of personnel from the Secretariats of National Defense (Sedena), the Navy (Semar), and the National Guard was present, showing part of their work in safeguarding Mexicans through self-defense routines, effective action, and training.

One of the most anticipated moments for attendees was the presence of agents from the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP), who, with skill and discipline, presented acrobatics, pyramids on the ground and on moving vehicles, as well as some procedures, causing great impression and admiration in children and adults.

At the end of the route, Inspector General Jesús Kú Chel, director of the southern sector of the SSP, stated that the report was without incident.

Earlier, the Governor, along with representatives of the state Powers, raised the national flag at the central flagpole of the Plaza Grande, initiating the commemorative activities for this 115th anniversary.

Present at the event were the territorial coordinator of the National Guard Southeast Region, Brigadier General Juan Carlos Guzmán Giadans; the commander of the IX Naval Zone, Vice Admiral Héctor Rafael Solís Hernández; the state coordinator of the National Guard in Yucatán, Brigadier General Isidoro Cázares Cruz; the representative of the X Military Region, Colonel of Sappers Augusto Melo Suárez; the head of the SSP, Luis Felipe Saidén Ojeda; the presiding magistrate of the Superior Court of Justice and the Council of the Judiciary of the Judicial Power of Yucatán, Erika Beatriz Torres López; and the presidents of the Board of Government and Political Coordination and the Directing Board of the State Congress, Wilmer Manuel Monforte Marfil and Alejandro Cuevas Mena, respectively.

Also present were the mayor of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón Laviada; the Secretary General of Government, Omar Pérez Avilés; the Attorney General of the State, Juan Manuel León León; the federal prosecutor in the State, Manuel David Magdón Flores; the representative of the Secretariat of the Interior in Yucatán, Andrés Peralta Rivera; the Secretary of Education, Juan Balam Várguez; the director of the State Coordination of Civil Protection of Yucatán, Hernán Hernández Rodríguez; and the director of the Sports Institute, Armín Lizama Córdova.
