Tanker Overturns in Playa del Carmen Due to Mechanical Failure

Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A mechanical failure caused a tanker truck to overturn on Federal Highway 307 at the entrance to the city of Playa del Carmen this afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. when the tanker truck driver was passing through Mayakobá, heading toward Playa del Carmen.

According to the Traffic Directorate’s investigation, the tanker truck driver lost control due to a mechanical failure, and then the vehicle collided with the central median before ending up overturned.

Fortunately, the driver emerged unharmed, so paramedic intervention was not necessary.

Traffic officers took charge of the accident to determine the corresponding responsibilities.

Traffic was affected for about an hour until the vehicle was towed to an impound lot.
