Quintana Roo Governor Rejects Transport Fare Hike

Quintana Roo Governor Mara Lezama speaking during her weekly program

Cancún, November 27. There will be no increase in public transport fares until conditions exist to justify it, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa firmly stated during the program “La Voz del Pueblo,” which airs every Thursday through social media and is replicated by various media outlets.

Mara Lezama reiterated that it is not true that urban transport prices will rise and explained that the MOBI project was presented, a highly necessary mobility system that prioritizes offering quality service where citizens can travel in units that provide efficient conditions.

“It is a mobility project and it is not true that there will be an increase in fares,” the Governor reiterated. No price increases are planned for the urban transport service until conditions exist that guarantee an improvement in the transport system.

During the program, the Governor of Quintana Roo informed that President Claudia Sheinbaum will be in the state this weekend, with whom she will work on issues such as Housing for Well-being, Pensions for Well-being, supervision of education and infrastructure works, etc.

She indicated that Quintana Roo is one of the two states in the country with the highest allocation of new homes, with 4,871, and 672 have already been delivered.

Another topic highlighted by Mara Lezama was the presentation of the historic budget for 2026 that prioritizes people’s well-being, honest, transparent, in a new government where backroom deals and corruption have ended. It contemplates increases in infrastructure, education, health, security, to continue closing inequality gaps.

She added that the honest management of the people’s money, which belongs to the people, is reflected in the fact that Quintana Roo is a state that has no observations from the Superior Audit Office of the Federation.

Throughout the program, in which she attended, read, and resolved people’s issues, Governor Mara Lezama emphasized actions to combat and eradicate violence against women, by adhering to the “National Commitment for the Life, Tranquility, and Happiness of Women” and signing the National Pact to End All Forms of Violence Against Children, of which Quintana Roo was the first state to join.

To continue with activities, there will be 16 days of activism with over 621 events and the participation of 48 institutions from the 11 municipalities.

In the final part of the program, Governor Mara Lezama invited the general population to participate in the blanket collection campaign through the “Abrigando Corazones” program, promoted by DIF Quintana Roo, to donate to people or families in high vulnerability.

She indicated that last year more than 2,500 blankets were delivered throughout the state, in an action in which municipalities participate.
