Cancun, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama joined thousands of fans at the Fut Fest events in Cancun and Isla Mujeres on Tuesday, watching Mexico’s World Cup match against Ecuador in a festive atmosphere.
At the Malecón Tajamar in Cancun, hundreds of people gathered hours before kickoff, wearing Mexican national team jerseys and waving flags. Lezama toured the venue alongside Verónica Lezama Espinosa, honorary president of the DIF Quintana Roo system; Landy Canché Pantoja, acting mayor of Benito Juárez; and Juan Pablo de Zulueta, tourism secretary of Benito Juárez.
Later, the governor traveled to Isla Mujeres, where another Fut Fest was held at Playa Centro. She greeted families, posed for photos, and cheered with the crowd.
Lezama said the events aim to strengthen family togetherness and reclaim public spaces for community recreation around international events.
