Preservation Plans Unveiled for Colosio Mangrove Area!

The mangrove region located between the beach and 1st Avenue in the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood is set to be conserved as a natural area. This decision comes as the area is recognized as national property, according to Armando Rivas Zavala, a representative from the National Institute of Sustainable Lands.

Currently, an investigation is underway to identify the current possessors of these lands, which have been reestablished as under the nation's full ownership. "We are in discussions to determine who currently possesses this land," Zavala stated.

Local residents of the Luis Donaldo Colosio neighborhood have expressed concerns regarding the future of this area, which represents the last remaining wetlands in the city. The mangrove, situated adjacent to the Punta Esmeralda beach, is part of this concern.

Zavala noted that the regularization of the Colosio area has paved the way for the potential regularization of other human settlements. In order to expedite these processes, operational rules will need to be modified. These changes are crucial in providing both patrimonial security and legal certainty.

Zavala also mentioned that the next round of property titles will be distributed in the Cristo Rey neighborhood. It is estimated that around 400 property titles will be handed out, providing the same number of families with a sense of security.
