Cancun, Quintana Roo — A 25-year-old man survived a direct attack by gunmen in a park in Cancun’s Supermanzana 233 on Monday, triggering a major response from security and emergency services.
The victim was intercepted by armed individuals who opened fire without warning. After the attack, the suspects fled the scene on a motorcycle and disappeared into nearby streets before authorities arrived.
Neighbors who heard the gunshots alerted police through the 911 emergency line.
Paramedics from the ERUM rescue squad provided first aid at the scene. The man suffered gunshot wounds to a leg and a hand, with the hand injury involving an open fracture from the bullet impact. After being stabilized, he was rushed to Cancun General Hospital for specialized treatment.
Local police secured the area while investigators and agents from the State Prosecutor’s Office processed the scene, collecting spent shell casings and launching an investigation. As of Monday evening, no arrests had been made in connection with the attempted homicide.
