Tulum, Quintana Roo — An armed attack inside a barber shop in the Colonia Maya neighborhood left a man injured and prompted a police operation in the area. The aggression occurred at an establishment located on Luna Norte street, between Sagitario and Libra Poniente, where neighbors alerted 911 after hearing several gunshots.
Upon arrival, paramedics from the RUM group located a man identified as Óscar “N,” who had a gunshot wound in the posterior region of his right ear. Due to the trajectory of the projectile, which had an entry and exit point, the rescuers stabilized him and immediately transported him to the General Hospital of Playa del Carmen to receive specialized attention.
While rescue efforts were underway, elements of the State Preventive Police consulted the injured man’s data on the Plataforma México, where they confirmed that he had an active arrest warrant for the crime of qualified homicide. For this reason, state agents are maintaining permanent surveillance at the hospital until the judicial mandate can be executed.
At the attack site, personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office cordoned off the area and carried out the collection of shell casings and other evidence inside the premises, which remained under guard to continue with the investigations. Authorities are still analyzing whether the aggression is related to the man’s background or if it responds to other circumstances, so the investigation remains open.
As of now, no arrests have been reported in connection with these events.
