Officers from the Public Security Department responded to a report of a person injured by gunfire, but upon arrival confirmed the victim showed no signs of life.
Unofficial accounts indicate the man was attempting to flee his attackers while wounded but collapsed dead at the intersection of Lilis and Massachusetts streets.
Municipal authorities cordoned off the area as forensic experts and investigators conducted procedures for body removal and launched an investigation into the latest violent incident recorded overnight.
