Kanasín, Yucatán — A man identified as J.A.S.S. has been sentenced to 22 years in prison after being found criminally responsible for the crime of aggravated rape, following events that occurred in September 2024 in the Mulchechén Santa Isabel neighborhood of Kanasín.

According to the investigation, on September 13, 2024, the aggressor attacked the victim inside a property in the Mulchechén Santa Isabel neighborhood, where he restrained her and, using physical and moral violence, committed the sexual assault.

After the attack, the victim filed a formal complaint, which allowed the initiation of the process that now concludes with an exemplary conviction.

During the hearing before the Second Collegiate Trial Court, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) presented sufficient probative elements that allowed for a guilty verdict. The prosecutors presented the sequence of events and the forensic reports that confirmed the sexual assault committed by the accused.

The Court also determined that, in addition to the prison sentence, the convicted individual must pay reparations to the victim and cover 1,666 days of fines, sanctions that will be specified in a subsequent sentencing hearing.
