Man drowns near Cancún bridge, autopsy reveals brain hemorrhage

Cancún, Mexico — The man whose body was found floating in the sea near Puente Calinda in Cancún has been identified as Rolando Zeferino González. Authorities confirmed his death resulted from a cerebral hemorrhage.

Authorities Confirm Identity and Cause of Death

The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Quintana Roo announced the initiation of an investigation following the discovery of the body near the 4.5-kilometer mark of Boulevard Kukulcán in Cancún. A forensic autopsy determined the cause of death as a cerebral hemorrhage.

González was identified through a driver’s license found on his person. The FGE stated in an official release, “This representation is working to locate the relatives of the deceased, identified as Rolando Zeferino González.” The agency also urged the public and visitors to exercise caution when engaging in water activities.

Incident Details

The body was discovered around 8:00 a.m. on Friday, July 25, near Puente Calinda, close to where pirate ships are typically docked. Workers in the area alerted emergency services via 911 after spotting the remains floating in the water.

First responders, including lifeguards, firefighters, and Cancún’s Tourist Police, arrived at the scene and confirmed the presence of a deceased individual. Witnesses described the victim as a man approximately 40 years old.

Rescue personnel retrieved the body shortly after arrival. Due to the condition of the remains, authorities are investigating whether González fell from the bridge or entered the water intentionally.
