Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man died suddenly on Wednesday afternoon while seated on a sidewalk along Bulevar Playa del Carmen, just meters from the Playa Car subdivision, sparking surprise and uncertainty among passersby and authorities.
Sudden Collapse Draws Attention
The incident occurred around 7:48 p.m. when pedestrians noticed the man displaying signs of agitation and physical distress. Concerned witnesses attempted to assist him, offering water and urging him to calm down.
Paramedics Unable to Revive Him
After observing no improvement in his condition, bystanders immediately dialed emergency services. Paramedics arrived shortly afterward and administered medical aid. However, upon evaluation, they confirmed the man showed no vital signs.
Police cordoned off the area while awaiting forensic personnel from the Medical Forensic Service (Semefo), who later removed the body.
Authorities Work to Identify Deceased
The official cause of death remains undetermined, and the man’s identity has not been disclosed. Authorities stated that a standard autopsy will be conducted to determine whether the death resulted from a health complication or other factors.
Efforts are underway to locate the man’s relatives and notify them of the incident. The case has been transferred to the relevant Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
