Chetumal, MX — A farmer lost his life this Thursday after the pickup truck in which he was traveling, driven by a 17-year-old adolescent, lost control on the federal highway leading to the town of Laguna Guerrero.
This tragic accident occurred around 8 a.m. about two kilometers before reaching the mentioned town.
Police officers arrived at the scene and found the wife of the deceased, who stated that the man was named Reynaldo, was 35 years old, was a farmer, and resided in Laguna Guerrero.
According to the preliminary report, the man was traveling in the bed of a red Ram-type pickup truck, which was driven by a 17-year-old adolescent.
Both were heading to fertilize a lemon grove, with Reynaldo seated on several sacks of fertilizer.
The fatal death occurred when the 17-year-old driver lost control of the vehicle on a curve, causing the vehicle to momentarily leave the asphalt pavement.
When attempting to reincorporate the pickup truck onto the highway, the vehicle made a sudden movement that caused Reynaldo to be thrown out.
Paramedics also attended the scene and confirmed that the man no longer had vital signs.
Police officers detained the 17-year-old driver to turn him over to the corresponding authorities. The body was taken to the Forensic Medical Service.
