Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man identified as Mauricio Raúl “N” has been formally charged in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in a residential complex in Cancun’s Supermanzana 330.

According to the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE), the incident took place on June 5 on Eucalipto Street, where a man died after being attacked with a bladed weapon.

Investigators say the suspect had been with the victim at the home the day before and on the day of the attack. During a gathering, an argument broke out, and Mauricio Raúl allegedly used a knife to inflict fatal wounds.

After gathering evidence, agents from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Homicide presented the case to a judge, who ordered the suspect to stand trial. The judge also imposed two years of pretrial detention as a precautionary measure, or for the duration of the proceedings.

Authorities continue to investigate to fully clarify the circumstances of the crime.
