Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A man faces attempted femicide charges after allegedly stabbing his partner during a domestic dispute in this southern Mexican city, authorities announced.
Carlos Misael “N” will remain in pretrial detention after a judge linked him to the case based on evidence presented by the State Prosecutor’s Office. The victim, whose identity remains confidential, survived the attack with a chest wound.
According to court documents, the incident began on the night of February 28 when the couple attended a party together. An argument prompted the woman to leave and seek help from her family at her parents’ home.
She later returned to the residence on Calzada Veracruz Avenue with her brothers to collect her belongings, having decided to end the relationship. The suspect was already at the property when they arrived, leading to another confrontation.
As the woman’s brothers helped gather her possessions, the argument escalated. Investigators say the man became violent, went to the kitchen, grabbed a knife, and threatened to kill the victim before stabbing her in the chest.
Her brothers intervened immediately, preventing further attack. The judge determined there was sufficient evidence to proceed with the attempted femicide case against Carlos Misael “N.”
