Human remains found in Cancún green area

Cancún, Quintana Roo — A chilling discovery shocked residents of the 'La Selva' neighborhood in Cancún after a man walking his dogs stumbled upon human remains in a green area of Supermanzana 226, near Avenida 20 de Noviembre. The Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo has launched an investigation to determine the victim's identity and the circumstances surrounding their death.

A Disturbing Find

The discovery occurred on Thursday morning at the intersection of Calles 107 and 82 when the man’s dogs ventured into a brush-covered area and began persistently sniffing. Upon closer inspection, he found a human skull alongside other skeletal remains, including bones from the thorax, pelvis, limbs, and a pair of boxer-style underwear.

Forensic experts noted that some remains still had skin attached to the pelvic region, which could aid in forensic analysis.

Authorities Secure the Scene

After the man alerted emergency services, municipal police officers arrived, confirmed the presence of the remains, and cordoned off the area to preserve the scene. Forensic specialists from the Attorney General’s Office collected the remains, which were then transported to the Medical Forensic Service (Semefo) for further examination. The tests aim to identify the victim and determine the possible cause of death.

Authorities have not disclosed whether the case is linked to recent reports of missing persons in the area. The investigation remains open as forensic experts work to shed light on this unsettling incident, which has caused unease among Cancún residents.
