Cozumel, Mexico — The BiblioAvión Gervasio was filled with joy as the Foundation of Parks and Museums of Cozumel (FPMC) successfully hosted its "Children’s Day Festival," an event packed with laughter, recreational activities, and family participation. The celebration strengthened community bonds in a safe and festive environment.
FPMC Director General Juanita Alonso Marrufo led the festivities, which were dedicated to the children who bring life to the island. Recognizing that childhood is the heart of the present and the hope of the future, Alonso emphasized that the event aligns with the New Agreement for Wellbeing and Development of Quintana Roo, an initiative spearheaded by Governor Mara Lezama. The governor has prioritized children in public policies with a social focus and long-term vision.
A Day of Laughter and Play
Organized by the Pedagogical and Social Assistance Directorate (PAS), the festival kicked off with a lively performance by clowns "Kaskabelito de la Costa" and "Lady Brillantina," whose antics drew laughter from children and adults alike. The afternoon featured games, contests, group activities, and plenty of interaction, proving that play is one of the best ways to learn. Raffles, sweets, food, and drinks were also provided, ensuring the children were celebrated in style.
"Seeing children play freely and happily in safe, caring spaces is our greatest reward," said Juanita Alonso, who was accompanied by PAS Director Dianela Cervantes Chi. She added, "Celebrating childhood means planting smiles, building community, and strengthening social ties."
Additional Benefits for Families
A credentialing booth was set up during the event, allowing families to obtain an FPMC membership card. This card grants free access to FPMC parks and museums for two years.
The festival underscored the FPMC’s commitment to fostering joy and community engagement while providing meaningful opportunities for families in Cozumel.
