Cancún — Amid the daily bustle and haste of the city, a wave of laughter will arrive this weekend with the presence of one of the Yucatán's most beloved comedians: La Tía Chayo, who returns with a show that promises to energize the Teatro de Cancún. She is not doing it alone: she is accompanied by La Sola, La Dejada, La Engañada, and La Divorciada, characters with whom many in the audience will identify or recognize someone close to them.
"There will be no shortage of people saying: this is me, that's your sister, that's the neighbor, that's the aunt of your dad's sister," the artist shared humorously in an interview, recalling why the Cancún public holds her in such affection.
With the wit and cleverness that characterize her, Puruxona Cahuich, Dominga Dzipiris, La Tía Kuki, and La Tía Chayo herself will parade across the stage to recount, with fine humor, the misadventures of Yucatecan women. It will be a display of witty remarks and situations that, between tradition and absurdity, manage to paint a portrait of many realities with which the audience empathizes.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 26, at 8:30 PM, in a single performance that promises to release tension and provoke laughter.
"In this comedy, I don't come alone, I come accompanied by three great Yucatecan personalities; the four of us are together. As there is a very beautiful friendship behind the stage, there is a complicity… we have fun, imagine how much the people are going to enjoy it," the comedian said.
The comedian indicated that there will be no other presentation in the city due to scheduling reasons.
"It's worth asking for time off from work; go and release everything that comedy helps us set free. Comedy heals, nourishes, and the theater gives you life," she stated with enthusiasm.
After the premiere in Cancún, the show will travel to Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, before finally arriving in Mérida. La Tía Chayo highlighted that this time, instead of starting in Mérida, the premiere will be in Cancún, so the public should take advantage of this production made with heart.
"Sola, Dejada, Engañada y Divorciada" is an artisanal creation made by talented hands: behind the scenes are Felipe Silva, the mastermind of the project, along with Iván Vázquez, David, Ximena, Fabi, Diego, another Fabi, a certain Luis, and a team of set designers, technicians, and lighting engineers who have managed to bring to life a hilarious and identity-filled stage proposal.
"It is a very easy-to-digest play, and we are putting a lot of heart into it. Take advantage of this opportunity to see this performance that we are premiering in Cancún… the Cancún audience has treated me very nicely, and I love that," concluded the comedian.
