Journalist Francisco García Davish Receives Melchor Ocampo Medal for Cultural Preservation

Mexico City, Mexico — The Casa de Michoacán, a civil association, awarded the 2026 Melchor Ocampo Medal to journalist Francisco García Davish, director of the Quadratín news agency, in recognition of his efforts to preserve Michoacán’s cultural identity in the capital.

The association’s board of directors presented the medal during a ceremony, highlighting García Davish’s career and commitment to promoting the state’s traditions.

At the event, García Davish announced his personal and institutional support for the comprehensive restoration project of the Casa de Michoacán, a historic building on Lucerna Street in the Juárez neighborhood of Mexico City. The restoration is currently led by journalist José García Segura.
