The festive spirit of Christmas has already enveloped Playa del Carmen. The local authorities of Solidaridad, under the leadership of Mayor Estefanía Mercado, have organized various holiday activities for both residents and tourists.
The Christmas celebrations kicked off on December 8th with the lighting of the first Christmas lights and tree in Playa del Carmen. "Last Sunday, we shared a magical night with the Christmas lighting ceremony," Mayor Mercado shared on her social media. "It was an evening filled with lights, joy, and hope, bringing our community together in the spirit of Christmas. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us. May the magic of that night stay with us throughout the festive season."
This was just one of many festive events that have taken place in Solidaridad. Another notable event was the opening of the Christmas Village in the central Plaza 28 de Julio. "The magic of Christmas has arrived in Solidaridad! We've opened the Christmas Village in Plaza 28 de Julio, where children can enjoy the ice rink from 6 pm to 11 pm. And this is just the beginning… more Christmas surprises are on the way! Stay tuned to our social media so you don't miss out. Christmas is best celebrated in Playa del Carmen!" the mayor announced.
She further added, "Our Christmas Village on 28 de Julio is now fully operational, with snacks and other amenities available. Our ice rink is open from 6:00 to 11:00 pm, free of charge. Parents, bring your children, preferably dressed in jeans. This is one of the three ice rinks we have in Solidaridad. Merry Christmas!"
This Saturday, two more events are scheduled: the lighting of the Christmas lights on Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen and a Christmas parade through various city streets. The gathering point is at Constituyentes with Fifth Avenue at 6:30 pm.
