Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The Isla Mujeres government, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, has announced a series of cultural, sports, recreational, and social events to commemorate National Navy Day, scheduled throughout May and June.

The festivities will kick off on May 29 with the traditional Band Imposition and Coronation of the Navy Day Ambassador at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Esplanade.

The program also includes sports tournaments, family walks, sand sculpture contests, cultural festivals, and environmental activities aimed at fostering community spirit and strengthening the island’s maritime identity. Organizers hope to encourage participation from children, youth, and families.

Charity events are also planned, such as a “Sailor’s Breakfast” benefiting the Animal Welfare Center, reinforcing the commemorative spirit of solidarity.

The Mexican Navy and various municipal departments will support the organization of the events.
