Isla Mujeres Gears Up for 21st International Fishing Tournament

Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo — Isla Mujeres is set to welcome local, national, and international anglers for the 21st International Fishing Tournament “Cosme Alberto Martínez Magaña” 2026, scheduled from May 22 to 24.

With a prize pool exceeding 900,000 pesos (about $45,000 USD), the tournament has become one of the municipality’s premier sporting events, promoting family togetherness, sports tourism, and economic benefits for the destination.

The official agenda begins Friday, May 22, with the traditional Captains’ Dinner at 7:00 p.m. at the Cocos restaurant, where participants and organizers will gather before the competition.

On Saturday, May 23, participating boats will assemble at the Muelle Fiscal de Madera dock, with the starting signal scheduled for 8:00 a.m., marking the official start of the sportfishing day.

The event concludes Sunday, May 24, with the awards ceremony at Playa Centro at 6:00 p.m., where winning teams will be recognized.
