Isla Mujeres, Q. Roo — Continuing the activities of the "Festival de Luz y Vida: Entre Vivos y Muertos," the Isla Mujeres government, led by Mayor Atenea Gómez Ricalde, successfully held the traditional "Noche de Calaveritas," an evening dedicated especially to the island's children to celebrate local customs, foster family togetherness, and strengthen the love for the traditions that give the people of Isla Mujeres their identity.
Boys and girls participated enthusiastically in the Calaveritas Parade, which traveled along the iconic Hidalgo Street on its way to the Municipal Plaza, where island families, tourists, and visitors enjoyed a night full of color, music, joy, and creativity.
The evening's program included a costume contest, a children's fair, games, piñatas, and a artistic show, all within the framework of the Luz y Vida "Entre Vivos y Muertos" Festival, which for several days will fill public spaces with cultural, artistic, and community activities.
Atenea Gómez, accompanied by the honorary president of the Sistema para el Desarrollo Integral de la Familia (DIF) Isla Mujeres, Alicia Ricalde Magaña, and by directors from various areas of the municipal government, shared the joy of this celebration with families.
"In Isla Mujeres we celebrate life and honor our loved ones who have passed on. Through the Festival de Luz y Vida: Entre Vivos y Muertos, we want our children to grow up proud of their roots, recognizing that our traditions are part of what unites us as an island people," expressed the mayor.
The event also included artistic presentations by the dance group "Al Son del Corazón Infantil" and the singer Ángel Amaya, whose talent gave a special touch to the evening.
The night concluded with the awarding of prizes for the best costumes, amid applause and smiles that reflected the festive spirit of the island people. The Isla Mujeres government reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the social fabric and preserving traditions for new generations.
