The land currently occupied by the Haven Riviera Cancún hotel is at the center of a dispute. The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) is set to conclude its investigation into allegations of dispossession related to this property, located between Cancún and Puerto Morelos, on July 1.
The FGE has placed security seals on the hotel due to an ongoing investigation linked to case file 10/79/2022. This case pertains to allegations of unlawful occupation of the land. Gustavo Salas Rodríguez, the legal representative of Promotora Rancho San Miguel, SA de CV, has confirmed that the investigation is expected to conclude on July 1.
Amidst the legal turmoil, Maria Antonia Llull, vice president of Hipotels Hotels & Resorts, has announced plans to open a new 600-room hotel on the same disputed land.
The conflict over the land's ownership traces back to 1962, when María Magdalena Alma Aguilar Martínez first attempted to acquire it. However, a series of legal challenges have since emerged.
The Prosecutor's Office is scheduled to release the findings of their investigation on July 1.
