IEQROO Launches Digital Democracy Magazine at INE Fair

IEQROO presents Democracia en Letras digital magazine at INE Book Fair

Chetumal – The Electoral Institute of Quintana Roo (IEQROO) presented its semiannual digital magazine “Democracia en Letras” during its virtual participation in the 4th INE Book Fair 2025, held under the theme: “Gender, Democracy and Territory.”

IEQROO President Councilor Mtra. Rubí Pacheco Pérez stated that this publication responds to the need to establish a more practical approach with citizens, recognizing that most people get informed through social media and digital media.

“The need to have a well-informed citizenry is vital so they can exercise responsible voting. Therefore, IEQROO opted for the digital format of the magazine, seeking to reach a greater number of people and serve as a source of truthful and reliable information that counters the large volume of imprecise and malicious information on digital platforms,” emphasized Pacheco Pérez.

The president councilor highlighted that the magazine “Democracia en Letras” addresses various topics of public interest with friendly language, including civic education, citizen participation, democratic culture, electoral systems, political parties, independent candidacies, transparency, and public financing.

She emphasized that women’s participation is paramount for IEQROO, so the magazine has a special section dedicated to them, where topics such as parity and elections, political violence based on gender, and their democratic and political feelings, as well as their experience in public office, are addressed.

Additionally, it promotes the participation of external contributors, Institute staff, and a section dedicated to political parties to express their opinions and analysis of the current context.

In this meeting, which brought together authors, researchers, academics, and the general public to reflect on the challenges of parity democracy and feminist struggles, electoral councilors Flor Ángel Vieira Vázquez (IEEM), Alejandra Esquivel Quintero (IEEPCNL), and Sonia Pérez Pérez (IECM) also participated.

Finally, Pacheco Pérez invited the general public to consult the digital magazine “Democracia en Letras” on the Institute’s official platforms: Facebook (IEQROO_oficial) and on its official website: ieqroo.org.mx.
