Cancún. Human skeletal remains were found on Saturday afternoon in a green area located on Niños Héroes Avenue, at the height of Region 201 in this city.
The report was made through the 911 emergency line, so Municipal Police officers went to Hacienda Chunchucmil Street, at the intersection with Niños Héroes, in the Haciendas del Caribe subdivision.
At the site, officers confirmed the discovery of human bones in a green area, next to an abandoned construction site.
Neighbors in the area indicated that they used to see a homeless person on that property, who slept in the area and during the day accumulated bottles and cans, which they later sold by the kilo.
The person apparently died two or three months ago, since the bones had no tissue and presumably the canine fauna in the area ate part of the body and scattered the skeletal remains in the area.
The police cordoned off the site to preserve evidence, until Forensic Services personnel began the corresponding procedures and transferred the remains to the Forensic Medical Service.
