Cancún Flooding Disrupts Traffic After Heavy Rains

Cancún. – The intense rains accompanied by electrical activity recorded throughout Friday caused several puddles and complications in mobility at various points in the city.

As usual, among the main roadways affected by water accumulation are 135, Chac Mool, Route 5, Route 4, Bonampak, Yaxchilán, Uxmal, José López Portillo, Lakín and Kabah.

Due to this, hundreds of people faced difficulties returning to their homes after the workday.

The bus stops at Plaza Las Américas and Tulum Avenue were more congested than usual.

No stranded vehicles were reported, but there was traffic chaos on various avenues, especially during the end of the workday hours.

In response to this situation, authorities reported that various operations were activated to address the impacts.

Among the notable actions are the “Operativo Carrusel” on Luis Donaldo Colosio Boulevard, preventive patrols by Transit, as well as desilting and cleaning of drains by Public Services personnel.

Given the persistence of rains, authorities reiterated to the population to heed official reports and collaborate with authorities to reduce risks.
