TULUM — Residents of the irregular settlement "2 de Octubre" were startled awake in the early hours of Monday morning after hearing multiple gunshots directed at a home located on Prolongación Alfa Sur street, a few blocks from Avenida Mercurio Poniente.

The attack, recorded around 4:30 in the morning, immediately mobilized elements of the Municipal Police. Upon arriving at the site, officers found the facade of the property damaged by bullet impacts and at least eight spent .223 caliber shell casings, apparently from a rifle similar to an AR-15.

The area was cordoned off to preserve the crime scene while ministerial agents and criminalistics experts carried out the collection of evidence and gathered testimonies from inhabitants. No injuries have been reported at this time.

Unofficially, it was revealed that the address could be linked to the clandestine sale of alcoholic beverages, although this version has not been confirmed by the authorities.

The home remains under guard while investigations develop to locate those responsible for the attack.
