New Hyatt Place Hotel Opens Near Cancún Airport, Creating Jobs

Governor Mara Lezama at the Hyatt Place Cancún Airport ribbon-cutting ceremony

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa participated in the inauguration of the Hotel Hyatt Place Cancún Airport, a new project developed by Parks Hospitality Holdings (PHH) and operated by Hyatt Hotels Corporation. The event was attended by Christophe Lorvo, Vice President of Area for Mexico and General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Mexico City, and Charles El-Mann, Director of Parks Hospitality Holdings.

During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Governor Lezama stated that every investment arriving in Quintana Roo “opens a door for the well-being of our people.” She emphasized that this hotel exemplifies a project with “a human face and a future for the families who depend on tourism and work every day to get ahead.”

Mara Lezama thanked Parks Hospitality Holdings and Hyatt Corporation for trusting in the state, recalling that business confidence is built with results and stability. She affirmed that Quintana Roo offers certainty and a long-term vision from a humanist government with a feminist heart that drives growth with social justice.

She highlighted that the hotel is located in the heart of the airport area, one of the most dynamic points of the destination, which recorded over 22 million passengers from January to September. The Governor noted that the new infrastructure strengthens the state’s competitiveness by expanding the tourist offering oriented towards business travelers, meetings, and leisure.

The 156-room hotel will generate 40 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs, which, she said, represents life stories with new opportunities: women who can achieve economic independence, youth who will access training, and local providers who will integrate into the value chain.

“This is where shared prosperity takes on its full meaning, because this hotel not only opens doors for those already in the sector but also for those seeking an opportunity to join the labor market. Each new position represents economic stability, secure income, and the possibility for more families to build a future with dignity,” explained Mara Lezama.

One aspect the Governor emphasized with great enthusiasm was that the hotel’s management is led by a woman, Andrea Medina, whose leadership sends an inspiring message to girls and young women in the state.

She also acknowledged coordination with the Benito Juárez City Council and its president, Ana Paty Peralta, highlighting that every advance in Cancún is sustained in joint work. “Every action in Cancún is sustained in coordination, dialogue, and the vision that this municipality is the country’s tourism engine,” she quoted.

The head of the executive branch stated that the new Hyatt Place is a clear message to the world: “In Quintana Roo, people invest because there is direction, certainty, and a deep commitment to inclusive development.”

Finally, she celebrated that the project will contribute to a competitive and modern state that respects its identity and bets on sustainability. “It excites me to think of the stories that will begin here,” she said in conclusion, wishing a long and prosperous trajectory for the new hotel.

Christophe Lorvo explained that the new Hyatt Place Cancún Airport, the first near an airport in Mexico, is strategically located a few minutes from Cancún International Airport and dedicated to the business sector. He thanked the commitment of his collaborators, who did an exceptional job.

He expressed his gratitude to Mara Lezama for accompanying them in this inauguration and for welcoming them in Cancún.

For her part, the municipal president of Benito Juárez, Ana Paty Peralta de la Peña, highlighted that this new hotel represents new options to generate well-being and prosperity for the people of Benito Juárez.

Bernardo Cueto Riestra, Secretary of Tourism, stated that with this new infrastructure, Quintana Roo continues to consolidate itself as the tourism leader. He thanked Grupo Hyatt for trusting in the entity and contributing to generating shared prosperity.

Also present in the presidium was Magistrate Heyden Cebada Rivas, President of the Superior Court of Justice.
