Cancún, Quintana Roo — Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa commemorated this Sunday the Day of the Pluricultural Nation, a date that she said invites Mexicans to proudly recognize their millenary roots and the richness of the cultural diversity that defines Mexico.

“Mexico is a great home where all cultures, all accents, and all ways of understanding the world have a place,” expressed the state leader, emphasizing that in the country of transformation, there is a celebration of pride in what we are: a country of diverse roots, living languages, and peoples who resist.

Mara Lezama underscored that the true strength of the nation comes from its pluricultural identity and from the histories, traditions, dances, embroidery, and knowledge that have survived thanks to the determination of the original peoples.

“Races do not exist, cultures do. That is why we are building a more just society, one that embraces its roots and looks to the future with respect and hope,” she affirmed.

In her message, the governor paid homage to the original and Afro-Mexican peoples, especially the great Maya culture, whom she recognized as guardians of a millenary history that remains alive in the communities of Quintana Roo.

“We recognize their wisdom, their dignity, and their role in the construction of a Mexico and a Quintana Roo that are more human, more empathetic, and more supportive,” she added.

Finally, Mara Lezama stated that, with the pride of being a pluricultural nation, the transformation in Quintana Roo is advancing towards a society that values diversity and converts it into an engine of unity and progress.
