Expo Feria Valladolid 2026 Launches to Promote Yucatán Culture

Valladolid, Yucatán — Governor Joaquín Díaz Mena inaugurated the Expo Feria Valladolid 2026 as a space for promoting tourism, gastronomy, crafts, and livestock that brings together producers, exhibitors, and visitors from the eastern part of the state, projecting Valladolid as one of Yucatán’s main cultural and economic destinations.

During the inaugural event, the governor stated that this fair, held in honor of the Virgen de la Candelaria, is one of the celebrations most deeply rooted in the social life of Valladolid.

He also highlighted the coordination between the City Council, the State Government, and the Government of Mexico, led by President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, to promote projects that strengthen economic development.

Accompanied by the honorary president of DIF Yucatán, Wendy Méndez Naal, Díaz Mena indicated that joint work is the key for the city of Valladolid to continue growing and consolidating itself as a cultural and tourist reference in southeastern Mexico.

The governor also reaffirmed that the city of Valladolid is alive, strong, and present in the heart of Yucatán.

In the thirty-fifth edition of the Expo Feria Valladolid 2026, Díaz Mena, accompanied by the municipal president of Valladolid, Homero Novelo Burgos, and the President of DIF Valladolid, María Teresa Martín López, led the ceremony to unveil the commemorative plaque of the fair.

Subsequently, the state governor planted a ceibo tree alongside the 38 municipal commissioners, a symbol of identity and cultural roots.

At the same event, the plaque for the gastronomic area was unveiled in honor of Toño Aguilar, the king of chocolomo.

Accompanied by state and municipal authorities, the Governor crowned the Queen of the Maya Ethnicity, Fabiola Moo Poot, and the Queen of the Expo Feria Valladolid 2026, Linda Sánchez Rosado, who proudly represent the roots, culture, and greatness of the Mayan land.

Finally, Díaz Mena led the first piece of the traditional vaquería, accompanied by the Queen of the Maya Ethnicity, Fabiola Moo Poot, and the municipal president of Valladolid, Homero Novelo Burgos, who participated alongside the Queen of the Expo Feria Valladolid 2026, Linda Sánchez Rosado.

This symbolic act officially began the festivities, reaffirming the cultural pride and identity of the Mayan peoples in the heart of Yucatán.
