Cozumel, Quintana Roo — Global Cruises Mexico has established Cozumel as a strategic hub in the cruise industry through its Kuzá Park, a project that combines international tourism, local job creation, and environmental commitment.

The company, a subsidiary of Miami-based Global Cruises with over 15 years of experience and operations in 140 global destinations, has made Cozumel one of its flagship projects. Kuzá Park offers entertainment, sustainability initiatives, and generates more than 300 jobs for the local community.

Germano Osorio, general director and co-founder of Global Cruises Mexico, emphasized that Cozumel is now “the most important port in the world,” with an expected 1,400 cruise ship dockings in 2026. Through partnerships with Royal Caribbean, Disney, MSC, and Norwegian, Kuzá’s products are offered directly to passengers from these cruise lines, solidifying the island as an international tourism destination.

The park currently employs 260 people with plans to reach 350 formal positions. “Each family has built Kuzá; it’s a park made by Cozumel residents for Cozumel residents,” Osorio highlighted.

Environmental and social commitment forms a cornerstone of the project. Global Cruises has launched mangrove planting programs in collaboration with the municipality, involving local students to raise awareness about coastal ecosystems. “We want young people to become ambassadors for the island and understand the value of the environment,” Osorio stated.

Kuzá Park receives between 500 and 700 daily visitors, though its capacity exceeds 1,500 people. The park offers accessibility for Cozumel residents with preferential rates of 799 pesos for adults and 499 pesos for children, compared to the $200 package price for foreign tourists.

Infrastructure development is nearly complete, with plans to add a zip line and a Mexican village for local artisans. The project has abandoned original plans for animal captivity facilities like a crocodile enclosure to maintain its environmental respect focus.

Regarding safety, Kuzá employs 25 lifeguards and holds international certifications for its water and extreme attractions, requirements mandated by cruise lines. The park provides ongoing training for its workers, Osorio confirmed.
