Cancún, Quintana Roo — What began as a legislative report transformed into a clear demonstration of political strength. Senator Eugenio “Gino” Segura of the Morena party gathered more than 2,000 residents of Quintana Roo at the Domo del Toro Valenzuela in an event that, more than an accountability report, projected the start of a new stage in his career and positioned him as a figure with significant prospects for the governorship of Quintana Roo.
Accompanied by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa and the President of the Senate, Laura Itzel Castillo Juárez, the event showed not only citizen support but also a sign of political alignment: several of the so-called "aspirants" for the state government—among them prominent women from the movement—appeared to close ranks around the senator's project, sending a message of unity within Morena.
A Speech of Strength and Continuity
With a direct and forceful tone, Gino Segura began his message by stating, "Here is the best movement in the world, a living and vibrant movement. You are the heart, the people of Quintana Roo."
The phrase sparked an ovation that set the tone for the gathering: energy, identity, and political direction. The senator emphasized that his legislative work has been focused on consolidating the "Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation," betting on a model of social justice and shared prosperity.
"For the good of all, the poor first," he affirmed.
He recognized the leadership of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa, whom he described as examples of sensitive and transformative governments.
"We have a great President and a great Governor. With them, Mexico and Quintana Roo have direction, certainty, and social justice," he stated.
Results and Territorial Presence
In his first year as a senator, Gino Segura presented 22 initiatives and 8 points of agreement focused on security, the environment, tourism, youth, and equality. He particularly highlighted his proposal to modify the formula for distributing federal resources, with the goal of ensuring Quintana Roo receives a fair budget proportional to its economic contribution to the country.
He also emphasized the work of the Casas de Transformación, spaces where more than 4,000 citizen services have been provided in areas of health, well-being, and education.
"To be from Morena is to be 100% territory. Our movement is built with the people, listening and solving problems together," he said.
The legislator also recalled his participation in the defense of the Villa Blanca reef in Cozumel, backed by more than 12,000 citizen signatures.
"We say yes to development, but never at the cost of the environment. In Quintana Roo, the people decide," he emphasized.
Unity, Leadership, and a Clear Direction
In closing his message, Gino Segura called for cohesion within the movement: "Unity is the strength to transform. My commitment is clear: to defend the transformation, to work with honesty, and to always be close to the people."
The event was interpreted as a high-caliber political message. The presence of local leaders, legislative figures, and municipal representatives—some considered potential contenders for the governorship—reflected a common reading: the senator is consolidating support and positioning himself as one of the principal references of the new political generation in Quintana Roo.
In an emotional moment, Gino dedicated words to his family, especially his son on the way: "Eugenio, I promise to give my best every day so that you will always be proud of your father."
Amid applause, cheers, and music, the Domo del Toro Valenzuela vibrated with a message that transcended a simple accountability report. With more than two thousand attendees, Senator Eugenio “Gino” Segura demonstrated that his political project has structure, backing, and a clear direction: the future of Quintana Roo.
