Tulum, Mexico — A motorcyclist ended up with injuries to his legs and body after being struck by a vehicle whose identity is unknown, in events recorded on the federal Tulum–Playa del Carmen highway, near the Tankah area. The responsible driver fled the scene without stopping to assist.
The affected young man stated that he was heading towards Tulum when he attempted to overtake another car. At that moment, a vehicle traveling behind him hit him from behind, causing him to lose balance and fall violently onto the asphalt.
Paramedics from the Red Cross arrived to provide emergency care, determining that he had multiple contusions and a considerable injury to one of his lower limbs. He was transported to the IMSS-Bienestar Hospital for medical evaluation.
Elements of the Secretariat of Public Security arrived as first responders to secure the area and prevent further accidents, as traffic on this stretch is often heavy. They also began searching for clues that could help identify the involved vehicle.
Authorities called on the public to drive with caution and report any information about the fleeing vehicle, as such incidents reinforce the need to prevent behaviors that endanger users of the federal highway.
