French Teenager Dies After Falling From 11th Floor Balcony in Cancun
Cancun, Quintana Roo — A 14-year-old French girl died Monday after falling accidentally from the 11th floor of the Torre Ariat, a residential tower in the Puerto Cancun complex, emergency officials said.
The incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. in apartment 1103. According to initial reports, the teenager, identified as Lian Daurat, was in her bedroom and apparently playing when she approached a window and fell from an estimated height of 40 meters (about 130 feet).
The victim’s parents, Ludovic Georges and Layla Daurat, immediately called 911. Private paramedics arrived and pronounced the girl dead at the scene due to severe trauma from the impact.
The mother suffered an acute nervous crisis and went into shock; medical technicians transported her to a nearby hospital.
Municipal police officers cordoned off the perimeter of the tower to preserve the scene. Personnel from the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGE) opened an investigation to determine the cause of death. Forensic experts processed the area and transferred the body to the Forensic Medical Service.
