Tulum is set to host a free sterilization campaign for stray animals on December 15, 2024. The event will be held at the Ka'an Pet Hotel, Spa, and Vet. The aim of the campaign is to control the overpopulation of stray animals and enhance the living conditions of homeless dogs and cats.
This campaign is privately organized and has a limited capacity for 50 animals. The organizers aim to raise awareness within the community about the importance of sterilization as a method of animal protection and care.
To participate and ensure the safety and well-being of the animals during and after the procedure, the organizers have set certain conditions. Animals must be over two months old, in good health, and clean. An eight-hour fast before the surgery is also required. Dogs must be brought in with a leash and, if aggressive, must wear a muzzle. Cats should be transported in secure carriers or bags, not cardboard boxes, and a blanket must be provided for post-surgery recovery.
Caretakers must be of legal age and sign a medical waiver. After the procedure, the animals must remain under supervised recovery for a period of five days to ensure optimal healing.
For more information or to reserve a spot, interested parties should contact +52 984 129 3575. Early booking is advised due to the limited capacity.
This campaign highlights the Tulum community's dedication to caring for and protecting its most vulnerable animals. The success of this initiative relies on the collaboration of the citizens. It not only benefits the animals but also contributes to a more balanced and healthy environment in the region.
