Cozumel, QRoo — The Foundation of Parks and Museums of Cozumel (FPMC), through its Directorate of Pedagogy and Social Assistance (PAS), is inviting the public to participate in the free workshop "Mundo de Papel" (World of Paper), which will run from October 7 to November 27. The initiative aims to preserve traditions and foster the empowerment of women.

The director of PAS, Dianela Cervantes Chi, announced that the workshop will be taught by instructor Gabriela Medina and has a limited capacity of 20 people. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 11:00, comprising 15 sessions in total. Participants will learn artisanal techniques that can become a tool for generating their own income.

The general director of the FPMC, Juanita Alonso, emphasized that the workshop responds to the New Agreement for the Well-being and Development of Quintana Roo, which is oriented towards providing women with more opportunities for training, entrepreneurship, and economic autonomy.

The workshop will highlight the importance of cut paper, filigree paper, and rolled paper, traditions associated with festivities such as the Day of the Dead, birthdays, and Christmas. Participants will create objects like small banners, flowers, Christmas greetings, and piñatas, among other items.

Cervantes Chi underscored that "Mundo de Papel" not only seeks to strengthen the cultural identity of the community but also to provide participants with an artisanal trade that allows them to generate income and undertake productive projects.

Registrations are now open and will be processed at the BiblioAvión Gervasio, located on Avenida 130, between streets 7 and Hidalgo, from Monday to Friday between 8:30 and 15:30.
