The Cozumel Parks and Museums Foundation (FPMC) recently hosted another successful meditation session, focusing on the importance of conservation and restoration. This session was part of the "Footprints of Consciousness" initiative, which aims to restore the mangrove ecosystem at the Punta Sur Ecotourism Park. Participants also took part in a mindfulness development activity by the sea, before joining the Mangrove Ecosystem Restoration Program in the ecological reserve, demonstrating their commitment to environmental conservation.

The meditation session was held at the “Open Beach” area and was led by Spanish master Luis Miguel Pérez Martín. He guided attendees through an exercise of introspection and connection with nature, emphasizing the importance of living harmoniously with the environment and taking responsibility for its care.

Pérez Martín encouraged the community to get involved in programs and initiatives aimed at protecting and restoring Cozumel's ecosystems. He pointed out that meditation not only benefits personal well-being, but also fosters a greater appreciation for the conservation of the natural environment. He expressed gratitude to the Director General of the FPMC, Juanita Alonso Marrufo, for her support in facilitating the event.

As part of the event, Jesús Benavides Andrade, the park director, and Héctor González Cortés, the deputy director, shared key information about the importance of mangroves and their relationship with neighboring ecosystems. They also led the mangrove restoration activities in the Xtacún lagoon area, which included opening water flow channels, leveling terraces, and planting pioneer vegetation and propagules.

These actions are crucial for promoting ecosystem regeneration and preserving wetlands. The Director General of the FPMC, Juanita Alonso, highlighted that these initiatives align with the institution's commitment to sustainability and environmental education. She also noted that the FPMC supports the objectives of the New Agreement for Welfare and Development of Quintana Roo, championed by Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa. This agreement encourages actions that benefit the environment and community well-being. Alonso urged the community to stay engaged and look out for future Footprints of Consciousness sessions, which are free to attend.

Through these activities, the FPMC continues to foster ecological awareness and encourage community involvement in the protection of Cozumel's ecosystems.
