Cancun, Quintana Roo — Police arrested four suspected drug dealers, including one woman, during a surveillance operation in Cancun’s Supermanzana 249 neighborhood, seizing nearly 300 doses of narcotics.

Officers from the Cancun Police Department made the arrests while conducting preventive patrols as part of Operation Blindaje Cancún, a strategy targeting drug sales in priority areas of the city.

Authorities observed three men and one woman engaging in suspicious movements on a public street. As officers approached, they noticed the individuals exchanging small bags, prompting them to stop the group for a preventive inspection.

During the security check, police found 162 bags containing green, dry plant material resembling marijuana and 126 bags with a granular substance similar to crystal meth. They also seized a gram scale commonly used for measuring drugs and a plastic object shaped like a handgun.

Police detained Cristian Daniel “N,” Cindy del Carmen “N,” Enrique “N,” and Eleazar “N” at the scene and turned them over to the State Prosecutor’s Office, where their legal status will be determined.

Officials said the suspects could face drug trafficking charges, which might lead to preventive detention depending on the investigation and whether authorities can prove possession with intent to sell.

According to official figures, authorities made at least 31 drug-related arrests in Cancun between February 23 and March 1, removing 2,457 doses of various narcotics from the streets.
