Quintana Roo, Mexico — A man named Roberto Pérez López, who was sought by authorities for his alleged connection to the disappearance of several individuals, has been detained in Quintana Roo. A reward of 500,000 pesos had been offered for information leading to his whereabouts.
The State Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo executed an arrest warrant against a male individual in the town of Tres Reyes, in the municipality of Lázaro Cárdenas, for his alleged involvement in acts possibly constituting the crime of disappearance committed by private individuals, to the detriment of two victims whose identities are reserved.
Details of the Case and Arrest
The detainee is identified as Roberto “N”, also known by the alias “Puebla”. He is alleged to be involved in events that occurred in the early hours of February 22, 2020, at a bar in Cancún, in the municipality of Benito Juárez. According to authorities, armed subjects, who were members of a criminal group, entered the establishment and deprived a man and his romantic partner of their liberty.
The assailants were reportedly led by Héctor Elías “N”, alias “El 15”, who is currently serving a 50-year prison sentence for the crime of aggravated homicide.
Four individuals have now been detained in connection with this case: Jorge Luis “N”, a former state ministerial police officer; Lorena “N”, captured in Veracruz, both of whom have been indicted; along with José Manuel “N”; and now Roberto “N”.
Criminal Profile and Reward
It was noted that Roberto “N” previously served as a municipal and ministerial police officer. He is considered a priority target of the Quintana Roo Criminal Atlas due to his high level of danger and his participation in the disappearance of persons.
The suspect was the subject of a 500,000-peso reward notice, issued on April 30, 2025, for the crime of disappearance committed by private individuals. However, according to authorities, no one will claim the reward, as his location and subsequent apprehension resulted from field and technological investigative work carried out by the State Attorney General's Office of Quintana Roo.
Legal Proceedings
After completing the requisite legal procedures, Roberto “N” was transferred and placed at the disposal of the requesting authority in the municipality of Playa del Carmen. His legal status will be determined within the constitutionally prescribed time frame.
