Moisés Muñoz, a former goalkeeper, has taken on the role of Director of Sports and Youth in Tulum, Quintana Roo. His aim is to use sports as a tool to tackle social issues among young people. Muñoz, who previously won the MX League with America football club, announced this news himself.
During a press conference, Diego Castañón, the municipal president of Tulum, introduced Muñoz. Castañón emphasized the importance of sports in Tulum and stated that they needed someone of high caliber to take charge. He believes that Muñoz, with his extensive experience, will instill positive values and habits in the young athletes of Tulum.
Castañón also mentioned that Muñoz's appointment is part of a series of initiatives in Tulum, including the construction of a Sports Unit. Muñoz expressed his honor in accepting the role and highlighted the importance of sports in maintaining public health and steering youth away from crime and social issues. He is eager to help young people realize their dreams through sports.
So, who exactly is Moisés Muñoz, the new Director of Sports in Tulum, Quintana Roo?
Born in Aguililla, Michoacán, in February 1980, Muñoz began his career in the First Division of Mexican football with the Morelia Monarchs at the age of 19. He won the Winter 2000 Tournament with the Morelia team before joining Atlante in 2010. In 2011, after a successful stint with Atlante, he was signed by America club. During his five years with the Eagles, Muñoz played a crucial role in securing two championship trophies.
In 2017, Muñoz was loaned to Chiapas Jaguares for a year, after which he joined Puebla for twelve months before retiring. Since retiring, Muñoz, the former America goalkeeper, has worked as a football analyst for the TUDN network.
