A young foreign tourist tragically drowned in Cancún, with her remains discovered on the Gaviota Azul beach near Fórum square on Monday morning. The emergency services were alerted to the presence of a body floating in the sea in the Hotel Zone at around 7:00 am.
Upon arrival, Cancún police, paramedics, the National Guard, and the Mexican Navy-Marine Secretariat intervened to retrieve the body. After examination, they confirmed the young woman showed no signs of life.
Following the confirmation of the tourist's death, experts from the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) arrived at the Gaviota Azul beach. They were responsible for recovering the body and transporting it for a subsequent legal autopsy.
At present, further details about the young woman are scarce. It is believed that she arrived in Cancún for a vacation a few days prior to the incident. It is unclear whether she was traveling with friends or family. Initial reports suggest that she was originally from Denmark.
The authorities are working to confirm her identity and determine the cause of her death. The investigation is ongoing into this tragic incident that occurred on the Gaviota Azul beach in the Hotel Zone.
